Canva has its own image model now, and it can spell
What it is: Canva Craft, the first image generation model built by Canva Research. It went live for all Canva users worldwide on 23 October, Brisbane time, inside Dream Lab.
What it does: it plans the layout and any words before it draws, so text in the picture comes out readable. Output goes up to 2K across more than 30 aspect ratios, or a size you enter, and it writes text in 55 languages. Magic Layers can then split the result into editable layers, so you can move the heading or swap the product without starting again.
How you could use it: a farm-gate shop or regional operator makes a "now picking" or open-day poster with the dates readable, sized for Facebook, the shop window and an A4 flyer. An allied health clinic turns new Saturday hours into a social tile and a noticeboard poster. Find it on the Canva homepage under More, then Dream Lab. It draws on your plan's AI allowance, and free plans get less of it.
Owner takeaway: agri and regional operators already on Canva should make next month's open-day or seasonal poster in Dream Lab this week, and check every date and word before it prints.

OpenAI's new GPT-6.1 Terra model can work a browser and fill in forms
What it is: GPT-6.1 Terra, a mid-sized OpenAI model released on 26 October as the successor to GPT-5.6 Terra. In ChatGPT it lives in Work (and Codex), not in ordinary chat, on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans.
What it does: it is built for visual reasoning, operating software and clearer writing. OpenAI says it scores 15 percentage points higher than the model before it on an agent test, and its error rate on OpenAI's trick-question test fell from 53.6 per cent to 16.7 per cent at low effort. In Work it can use a browser, your connected apps and, in the desktop app with your permission, local files.
How you could use it: a wholesaler's office hands Work a batch of supplier invoices and asks for a spreadsheet of supplier, line items and totals to check before import. An aged care intake team has it pre-fill an intake form from a referral letter, with a person checking before anything is saved. Plan usage limits are unchanged, and Business admins can restrict what Work can do.
Owner takeaway: distribution and wholesale owners on a paid ChatGPT plan should open Work this week, give Terra ten invoices they have already keyed, and compare its spreadsheet line by line.

Google Sheets now fills 3,000 cells from the web and shows where each answer came from
What it is: an upgrade to Fill with Gemini in Google Sheets, announced on 28 October after a gradual rollout that started on 20 October. It is in Workspace Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, and Google AI Pro and Ultra. Business Starter is not on the list.
What it does: select empty cells next to a list and a Fill option appears. Tell it what you want, like website or suburb, and it fills up to 3,000 cells in one request. Each cell it fills from the web now carries its source: hover over the cell, then click Sources. Google's internal study of 95 people found it up to 55 times faster than typing on a 500-cell task.
How you could use it: a distributor pastes in 400 customer names and fills in website, location and business type before a sales push. An allied health practice builds out its GP and specialist referrer list with practice websites and suburbs. Spot-check the sources, because websites go out of date.
Owner takeaway: distribution and wholesale owners on Workspace Business Standard or above should take one customer list this week, fill two columns with Gemini, and click the source on ten cells before trusting the rest.
